Bolivia was as hard to leave as it was to enter. Due to political actions I had to negotiate over 20 major roadblocks between the Capital La Paz and the Peruvian border. At one roadblock I had to earn my passage by shoveling dirt to make the blockade higher. When I finally reached the border it was closed since no one was expected to reach it anyway. I crossed a pedestrian border with Pam much to the amusement and amazement of the border guards who had no idea what to do with Pam.
